The Driver of a cash transit van shocked the bank authorities by fleeing with Rs 22.5 crore cash from Govindpuri area in New Delhi.
This incident happened when the armed guard accompanying the vehicle asked the driver to stop near Govindpuri Metro Station to relieve himself. The Driver told the Security Guard that he would wait for him in a lane nearby but fled from the spot. After failing to trace the vehicle, The security guard informed the concerned bank authorities who immediately contacted Police.
Cops traced the transit van near a petrol pump, a place close to the spot when the driver had dropped the guard, but the cash boxes were missing. They came to a conclusion that its a case of criminal breach of trust.
Pradeep Shukla, the driver, was arrested at a location close to the place whether the van as traced. However, Only Rs 11,000 was recovered from him and he used some money for buying clothes. Cops were trying to find out where the remaining cash has been stored.
This is said to be the biggest cash heist ever in Delhi. In January 2014, About Rs 7.69 crore was robbed from a businessman at gunpoint.
