Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, who moved the Divison Bench of Andhra Pradesh High Court over the schedule of the Panchayat elections faced a hammer blow today.

According to the reports, the division bench of the High Court has postponed the hearing of the petition filed by the SEC to the 18th of January, i.e, post the Pongal holidays.

The requests from the Counsel who represented the SEC to hear the case as an urgent one went in vain with the bench telling the Counsel that they don’t see any urgency in the petition filed.

State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar faced back to back blows over the local body commencement in the state.

On Monday, the single-judge bench of the High Court has suspended the election schedule issued by SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar over the Local Body elections.

The bench said the local body elections should not come in the way of the Coronavirus vaccine drive and the vaccination drive is more important than the elections and suspended the election schedule.

To Challenge the orders issued by the single-judge bench, the SEC moved the division bench, but the decision of the bench has brought down the confidence of the SEC.

The Andhra Pradesh government has been saying that the local body elections commencement will not be possible as the main departments in the state will be busy with the vaccination process.
