Badaun Gang-Rape Case: National Commission For Women Member Makes Objectionable Comments!

Update: 2021-01-08 08:14 GMT
The crimes committed against women continue to rise in northern state Uttar Pradesh. The crime percentage has increased in Uttar Pradesh in 2020 even than the national capital Delhi.

Another brutal gangrape and murder case took place in the Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday that has sent shocking waves across the nation.

Going into detail, a 50-year-old woman was gang-raped and brutally murdered on Sunday. A priest and two others are said to be the accused in the case. Her body was dumped outside her house on Sunday night.

When the incident has raised questions over the safety of women in the state, rather shocking and objectionable comments of a National Commission for Women member made many heads turn.

National Commission for Women member  Chandramukhi Devi has met the kin of the victim who was allegedly gang-raped and killed brutally. After meeting the family members she spoke to the media and blamed the victim.

News Agency PTI quoted Chandramukhi Devi as saying, the incident would have not taken place if she was accompanied by any child or a member of her family.

Adding further she said, the incident could have been avoided if she would have not gone out. I often tell women that they should not go out during odd hours under the influence of anyone.

A member of the National Commission for Women making such shocking comments surprised everyone.

Like any other incident, the horrific incident too witnessed the dangerous trend of shaming the victim for the incident. The trend inculcates fear in the victims’ minds to share their horrific incident with the fear of getting shamed.
