Badminton Player Tweet for BJP lands her in big controversy

As a major morale boost to the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) ahead of the general elections in Uttar Pradesh, the party recorded a resounding victory in the recently held local body elections.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has a vital role in the party emerging victorious in the elections. BJP supporters and sympathisers have showered Yogi with congratulatory messages on social media. A celebrated athlete had also congratulated Yogi Adityanath.

Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal took to Twitter to congratulate Yogi Adityanath for BJP winning the Zilla Parishad elections by a big margin. The saffron party has won a major share of the seats.

"Hearty congratulations for thumping victory in Zila Panchayat Chairperson election in UP @myogiadityanath sir," the Badminton star tweeted after the party's performance in the local body polls.

Saina Nehwal's tweet has received sharp reactions from the opposition parties and leaders. They are slamming the Badminton Player for tweeting in the favour of the BJP being a sports player.

Rashtriya Lokdal chief and former Mathura Parliamentarian Jayant Chaudhary found fault with the badminton player and called her Sarkari Shuttler(Government Shuttler) and opined that voters should play drop shots on celebrities who try to influence the voters' decisions.

'सरकारी shuttler recognises BJP skill in smashing peoples' verdict! I think voters need to play a subtle drop shot on celebs trying to influence their decisions!' Jayant Chaudhary tweeted.

The reason behind the opposition parties targeting Saina Nehwal is that she is a BJP member and joined the saffron party earlier in January last year ahead of the polls in the national capital Delhi.

The BJP has put up a thumping show in the polls with 67 candidates backed by the party having won out of the 75 seats. Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party has managed to win five seats, while the remaining three seats were won by Rashtriya Lok Dal, Jansatta Dal, and an independent candidate.

After winning the lion's share of the seats, the Uttar Pradesh wing of Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has attributed the election result to the schemes of the government and the image of PM Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
