The auction of Balapur laddu ahead of the immersion of the Lord Ganesha in Tank Bund is a practice followed since many years.
Balapur Ganesh Laddu Auction for the year 2015 fetched a record price of Rs 10.32 lakh. Kalle Madan Mohan Reddy has bid the highest amount to take home the auspicious laddu weighing 21 kgs. Telangana Transport Minister Mahendar Reddy, MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy, MLC Ramachandra Rao and few other public representatives have been present during the auction.
Last year, Balapur laddu fetched a price of Rs 9.50 lakh and its Singireddy Jaihind Reddy who placed the bid. While Teegala Krishna Reddy placed the highest bid in 2013 (Rs 9.26 lakh), Govardhan Reddy managed to win the auction in 2012 (Rs 7.5 lakh).
