Raghuram Rajan hasn't received an extension of his term as RBI Governor despite achievements for opposing demonetisation proposed by PM Narendra Modi. Recently, This renowned economist termed note ban as something which has been poorly implemented.

The Former RBI Governor is now in fray for bagging a top post. He is a strong contender to be Bank of England (BoE) Governor. The term of the current BoE Governor Mark Carney, who is a Canadian, will end in June next year. UK Government is keen to appoint a new Governor by that time.

Command on international economics and central banking experience will be advantageous to Raghuram Rajan. Whether this Chicago-based economist is keen to do the job or not is a million dollar question.

Former UK Business Minister Shriti Vadera is the another Indian-origin contender for the top post.
