BCCI announces Rahul Dravid as head coach

Veteran Indian batsman Rahul Dravid,who frustrated the bowlers by standing like a wall in the crease has started his new journey. The cricket governing body in India, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the news of Rahul Dravid taking the head coach post. The announcement was made on Wednesday.

Rahul Dravid will replace Ravi Shastri as the head coach of team India and India's series against New Zealand will be the first series for Rahul Dravid as the coach. Reports say that seniors like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be rested for the series and KL Rahul will lead the team.

"The Cricket Advisory Committee comprising Ms. Sulakshana Naik and Mr. RP Singh on Wednesday unanimously appointed Mr. Rahul Dravid as the Head Coach of Team India (Senior Men)," BCCI said in a statement

Earlier, media reports said that the BCCI is in favour of appointing Rahul Dravid as the coach as the tenure of Ravi Shastri is nearing to end. The reports appeared to be true and he was appointed as the head coach.

After Rahul Dravid's appointment, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly shared his happiness and expressed confidence that he will help the team like he had shined the youngsters at the National Cricket Academy.

Indian players have welcomed the BCCI's decision and said they are waiting for Rahul Dravid to take up the new role. After victory against Afghanistan in Wednesday's match, Rohit Sharma said, welcome to Dravid for his new role.
