It is already known that the cricket governing body, the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) has suspended the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL) in the wake of the Covid virus ringing danger bells in the country.
The BCCI had met for a Special General Meeting (SGM) on Saturday to take a call on the conduction of the remaining IPL matches this year. The meeting had ended with a conclusion to shift the balance matches to the middle ear country United Arab Emirates(UAE).
The entire 2020 edition of the IPL was held in the UAE. However, fans were not allowed to see the matches live in the stadium given the Covid scare.
'BCCI to conduct remaining matches of VIVO IPL in UAE,' the tweet from IPL's official Twitter handle reads.
However, there is no official information on the dates when the IPL matches will be played in UAE. On the other hand, the BCCI has also taken the decision to request ICC to allot time till July first week to take a call on conducting the T20 World Cup in India.
The main obstacle IPL would face is the unavailability of overseas players. Several cricket boards have already announced tournaments and the players will be busy with those games. It is interesting to know, whether BCCI can manage to bring the foreign players
