It's Official : BCCI Suspends IPL 2020 Till Further Notice

In a much shocker to the cricket fans, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL) following the extension of the lockdown in the country due to the COVID pandemic.

As per the old schedule, the IPL was supposed to get kickstarted from the 29th of March which was then postponed to April 15 as the government denied visas to foreigners

Later a 21-day nationwide lockdown was imposed in India which was again extended till the 3rd of May. Now the BCCI has suspended the IPL and till the further notice comes from them.

"The health and safety of the nation and everyone involved in our great sport remains our top priority and as such, the BCCI along with the Franchise Owners, Broadcaster, Sponsors and all the Stakeholders acknowledge that the IPL 2020 season will only commence when it is safe and appropriate to do so," the press release of BCCI read.

Following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus many series were also postponed be it the T20 World Cup which was scheduled to get hosted by Australia.

Several other bilateral series were also suspended as of now and will hopefully get resumed if the situation gets control.
