Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharamana held a press conference to brief on the second phase of the economy package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that today's announcements will be focusing on the Migrant workers, Street Vendors, and small farmers.
Talking about the Migrant workers they will be getting free food grains for 2 months. The Non card holders will be provided 5 Kg Rice or Wheat per person and the Centre will spend Rs 3500 crores on free food grains.
For the street vendors, Rs 5000 credit facility will be provided, and with this 50 lakh Street vendors will get benefited. They will be given an initial working capital of Rs 10,000 for each street vendor.
The Finance Minister also announced the schemes which will lend a helping hand for the farmers. She announced Rs 30,000 crore additional emergency funds for the agriculture which will benefit 3 crore farmers.
"Work under the MGNREGA has been provided to 2.33 crore wagers in 1.87 lakh panchayats to benefit migrant workers, who are being actively enrolled," Nirmala Sitharaman said.
