BJP Chief Amit Shah on Monday announced that Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind is going to be the presidential candidate of National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He informed, 'Selection was made after holding consultations with Opposition Leaders Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh. Sonia Gandhi said decision of Congress party will be announced after holding discussion'.
Ram Nath Kovind, an advocate by profession, hails from Uttar Pradesh. He served as Rajya Sabha Member twice (1994, 2000). He is the Governor of Bihar since 2014.
Amit Shah opined Ram Nath Kovind has always strived for the upliftment of Dalits & Poor. He adds, NDA is yet to take the decision on candidate for Vice President post.
Presidential Polls is slated to happen on July 17. If he gets elected, Ram Nath Kovind will be the second Dalit Indian President after KR Narayanan.
