The population and traffic increased to a point that commuting on the road has become a big task. To ease that many aggregators like Ola, Uber, and others came into existence. They have become a part of our lives that we cannot imagine our lives without them.
But a big Indian state will see the popular aggregator Rapido stopping its services till the 20th of this month. Based on the orders issued by the High Court the company said that it has suspended the service for next Friday.
The Bombay High Court gave a big blow to the Rapido company, directing the company to stop all services in Maharashtra till the 20th of this month. Hearing a petition the High Court made the directives. Following the same Rapido said that the services across the state have been stopped as per the orders.
Hearing a petition the Bombay High Court said that the bike-taxi service company Rapido has no required license to operate hence the services should be stopped. Rapido's lawyers were also present in the court.
When the High Court said that Rapido has no required permission the company's lawyers said that the permission was sought by the government but the permission is yet to be granted. After hearing the arguments of both sides the High Court gave the orders.
Running taxis and two-wheeler services requires some sort of license and permissions. If a company continues services despite no permission then it becomes a big violation and the company that does that can be punished.
Keeping this in mind the bench of the Bombay High Court said that Rapido cannot run the show due to a lack of licenses. The Rapido informed the High Court that the services till the next Friday have been stopped across Maharashtra.
During the arguments, the bench of the Bombay High Court is also said to have pointed out a few issues on the policy to grant licenses for bike taxis. Understanding the key role the bike taxes play, the Court reportedly urged the Maharashtra government to take swift action in granting the licenses. The next hearing will take place on the 20th of this month.
