As his tenure as the Rajya Sabha member will come to an end tomorrow, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who is serving as the Minister of Minority Affairs resigned just a while ago. He participated in his last meeting as the Union Cabinet Minister before submitting a resignation letter.

When the Rajya Sabha polls were held for the vacant posts, the BJP did not retain him as a Rajya Sabha member and this surprised many. There were a lot of doubts about why the saffron party did not give a second chance to the senior leader.

Now it is said that BJP wants to give him a big post and the senior Bharatiya Janata Party is said to be considering him for the Vice President post. Venkaiah Naidu's tenure is also coming to an end and Naqui is said to be the front runner for the post.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has been traveling with the BJP for a long period. He even worked as a Cabinet Minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Cabinet too. He also holds the spokesperson position in the saffron party. On many occasions, he stood for the party.

The opposition parties often attack BJP that the party is against the minorities. To get rid of this, the saffron party is eyeing the Presidential polls. ST candidate Draupadi Murmu was announced as the Presidential candidate and Naqui is said to be the Vice President candidate. With this, BJP can take the credit for making the ST candidate and Minority candidate the President and Vice President candidate respectively.
