BJP MP found fault in fielding Metro Man as Kerala CM candidate

Update: 2021-03-06 06:13 GMT
Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) Lok Sabha member Subramanian Swamy has a different nature than other politicians. Unlike other Legislatures, he won't hesitate to lash out and slam his own political party.

The MP who slammed his party on several occasions in the recent past did it yet again. This time he took a dig at the party for fielding Metro Man' E Sreedharan as the chief ministerial candidate in the upcoming Kerala Assembly polls, who is 89 years old.

He took to Twitter to take a potshot at BJP. In his tweet, the MP questioned the party's decision which is against the party's rules to not give seats for people who are above 75. He suggested that Advani, MM Joshi& Shanta Kumar should also contest the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

'The BJP has declared Sreedharan, age 89, the Metro man as a BJP nominee for CM in Kerala. In other words the vanvaas styled as Margdarshan Mandal for 75+ year old leaders, was a convenient spin? I suggest therefore Advani, MM Joshi& Shanta Kumar should contest LS election in 2024,' his tweet reads.

Veteran leaders like Lal Krishna Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi who were once the star campaigners of the party and even held various positions in the government were sidelined by the BJP since 2014.

The critics even accused the BJP of not giving appropriate importance to the senior leaders. To counter these allegations, the party had formed a 'Margdarshak Mandal' (a group of mentors) in 2014. LK Advani was made the Mandal member.

Coming to Kerala, the BJP announced Sreedharan will be the CM candidate for the forthcoming Assembly polls in Kerala. The party wants to bank on the clean image he has.
