BJP MP resigns, keeps promise

Update: 2020-01-22 06:35 GMT
It is very difficult for the politicians to keep their word. They make vows and promise lot of things during the elections, but conveniently forget it once the election is over.

Former Union Minister and BJP leader Rao Birender Singh of Haryana had promised the voters that he would resign his Rajya Sabha post if his son is elected to the Lok Sabha from Haryana. He promised this to his voters.

Finally, his son Bijendra Singh had won as an MP from Haryana with a very convincing margin. Soon after his son was elected, Birendra Singh announced that he would keep his word. On Tuesday, he tendered his resignation from Rajya Sabha. He went to Rajya Sabha chairperson and vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu and submitted his resignation. Venkaiah accepted his resignation. Thus Singh kept his word.

His Rajya Sabha term is coming to an end in August 2022. Which means he has two-and-a-half years of time. Yet, he chose to resign and kept his word. Kudos to such leaders who not just make promises, but also keep them.
