Enemy's enemy is a friend. This adage has been proved right one more time. In Maharashtra, an interesting alliance seems to be in the offing, Even as the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena is shedding its pro-Hindu image like it's a soiled rag, another party is inching closer to the BJP. The Maharashtra Navanirman Sena of Raj Thackeray, who is Uddhav Thackeray's cousin, is now getting ready to cobble up an alliance with the BJP.
Raj Thackeray met BJP leader and former CM Devendra Fadnavis and remained closeted with him for over two hours. It is now being believed that Raj Thackeray, who till recently rooted for regional Marathi sentiment, will now go saffron. He is also changing this party from from its blue, green, white to saffron and Shivaraj Mudra, the insignia of Chhatrapathi Shivaji will be at the centre of the flag. Raj, a great fan of Narendra Modi, has fallen out with the BJP after it allied with the Shiv Sena and in the 2019 elections, he campaigned against the BJP.
Now things have completely changed. The Hindutvawadi Shiv Sena is now courting the Congress and the NCP, while MNS is getting closer to the BJP. The MNS will now strongly espouse the Hindu cause in Maharashtra. Now, what will the Shiv Sena do when something goes wrong in its alliance?
