What makes the saffron party Bharatiya Janata Party different is that the party is not run by one particular family and the leaders at the top change at regular intervals. Currently, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are the top leaders of the party. Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Advani were the leaders of the party till 2005.

Former Deputy Prime Minister of India Lal Krishna Advani is celebrating his 95th birthday today and wishes are pouring in for him. The BJP leaders met him and wished him on the special occasion. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished him and recalled the valuable contributions he made to the party.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and others met him and wished him on his birthday. Saying that he is praying for a long life of Advani, Modi also recalled Avabi's contribution towards India's growth.

The 95-year-old is one of the tallest leaders in BJP and national politics too. He had an inspirational journey and held various posts in government. His association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh changed his life at once and he became one of the game changers for the party.

His RSS background made him close to the party as he is one of the co-founders of the party. Before BJP came into existence there was a party called Bharatiya Jana Sangh.

Advani served as the first Chairman of the Delhi Metropolitan Council in 1976 and held the position for three years. After taking over the party leadership he changed the position of the party and took the party towards victory.

Advani was the face of the Rathyatra started in Somnath. A year after the yatra the Babri Masjid was demolished by Karasevaks and the issue lasted for a few decades until the Supreme Court ordered that Ram Mandir should be constructed on the disputed land.

He and others were dubbed as the accused in the Babri demolish issue as they are believed to have given provocative speeches which triggered the Hindus and the Karasevaks to take down the establishment. The Supreme Court let them go off saying that there is no evidence.
