Manohar Parrikar appointed as Goa CM

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar met Goa Governor Mridula Sinha after being appointed an BJP Legislature Party Leader. He claimed to be having the support of 21 MLAs to form the BJP Government in Goa.

Actually, Congress emerged as the single largest party in Goa by winning 18 seats. However, BJP which managed just 13 Seats in the recently concluded polls managed to get the support of 3 MLAs of MGP, 3 MLAs of Goa Forward Party and Two Independent MLAs to attain magic figure (21 MLAs) in the 40-member Assembly.

After signatures of 21 Legislatures were submitted during the meeting on Sunday, Goa Governor appointed Manohar Parrikar as the Chief Minister. However, He was asked to prove his majority on floor of the House within 15 Days.

BJP is keen to lure few more MLAs to be on a safe side. Lone NCP MLA Churchill Alemao is yet to extend his support to the saffron party.
