When YS Jagan Mohan Reddy mooted the three-capital's formula, one expected the TDP to get mired in confsion. But, it appears, that it is the BJP which is actually finding itself in a soup. The party is in utter confusion on the issue. Party chief Kanna Lakshminarayana has initially supported the idea of three capitals, but quickly realised that his political interests lay in backing Amaravati. Since then, he has become a staunch supporter of Amaravati as the state capital. MP Sujana Chowdary has several interests in Amaravati area and is almost planning to lead an agitation on the issue..
Another key leader of the party Vishnuvardhan Reddy has backed the idea of Kurnool as the capital and the general consensus in Rayalaseema is in favour of three capitals. Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP and party spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao has said that the Centre has no say in the location of the capital and that it is for the Chief Minister to decide. One thought that the confusion would be over. But now it turns out that party's MLC Somu Virraju too has entered the ring. He has backed the idea of Vizag as the state capital. His support has again led to confusion among the BJP workers in the state
It's time that some central leader clarifies on the issue and clears the confustion. As of now, the BJP appears to be divided on regional lines what with each leader voicing a different opinion.
