Update: 2020-12-28 06:44 GMT
The saffron party Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) which is not leaving nay tone to increase its base in the Southern states got a solid start with back-to-back wins in the elections in Telangana.

Now the party has its eyes on other Telugu state Andhra Pradesh. Instead of going for the new leaders and training them, the party is searching for leaders who are already established.

As part of this, a former Minister who once served as a Union Cabinet Minister too is all set to wear a saffron shawl and join the BJP party very soon.

Media reports claimed that Sai Prathap Annayyagari is all set to shift his loyalties to the BJP party and will join the party at a public event which is expected to be held soon.

If we have to take anything from these reports, Sai Prathap Annayyagari along with his family members will join the party at a meeting for which BJP national secretary Sunil Deodhar, president of BJP party for the state of Andhra Pradesh Somu Veerraju, and Andhra Pradesh state vice president Vishnu Vardhan Reddy will be arriving.

Looking at the political history of Sai Prathap Annayyagari, he held several positions during the tenure of former Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh late YS Rajasekhara Reddy. He even served as a Central Minister.

Later, he has shifted his loyalties to Telugu Desam Party(TDP) till the 2019 General Assembly elections. It is said that he hoped to get the MP ticket from Rajampet. However, the ticket was allotted to a senior leader.

Since the 2019 elections, he has kept himself distant from active politics and party activities. He found himself in the middle of the news with the reports of him joining the BJP party.
