Soon after his swearing-in ceremony, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa decided to fulfill the poll promise of Farm Loan Waiver. He ordered the Revenue Secretary to explore the possibility of implementing Rs 1 lakh farm loan waiver at the earliest.

In its election manifesto, BJP promised to waive Farm Loans of up to Rs 1 lakh borrowed from nationalized and cooperative banks.

During his swearing-in ceremony, BS Yeddyurappa took oath as Karnataka CM in the name of God and Farmers. 'I had promised to waive loans within 24 hours after becoming CM. I had communicated the same to the Chief Secretary who assured me that she will work accordingly. I will implement the promise within a day or two. One lakh farmers would get benefitted,' he promised.

Yeddyurappa claimed to be 100 percent sure about winning the vote of confidence and completing the 5-year term as CM. He described the post poll alliance of Congress & JD (S) 'unholy' and accused them of trying to get hold of power though voters had rejected them.
