The State Election Commission (EC) has set the expenditure limit on the candidates for the upcoming GHMC elections. EC in his announcement said that the candidates contesting for a corporator seat in GHMC elections are not allowed to spend more than Two Lakhs
The nomination deposit will be Rs5,000 for general and OBC candidates and Rs2,500 for SC and ST contestants. The decision was taken by the State Election Commissioner V. Nagireddy after the views expressed by the leaders of political parties in the State Election Commission (SEC) meeting.
Nagireddy speaking on the occasion reportedly said the election commission is all prepared for conducting the election anytime before January 31 as directed by the High CourtThe meeting discussed about time-frame for conduct of the GHMC elections, model code of conduct, compulsory identification of voters and appointment of micro-observers.
