India's first double-decker flyover has been opened to public since Friday (April 18th) in Mumbai. This flyover is part of the Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR) which covers 3.5 km and it will ease the traffic at Chembur, Vakolam, Sion and Kurla.
Usually, Commuters take nearly 90 minutes to travel from Santacruz to Chembur. Using this flyover, they could now reach the same distance in just 20 minutes.
To ensure smooth flow of traffic, Traffic Police have imposed a speed limit of just 30 km/h on the bridges and restricted vehicles from stopping and parking along the stretch of SCLR bridge. Heavy vehicles, bicycles, tricycles, auto-tricycles, animal carts, hand-pulled carts, pedestrian movement on the bridge have been barred.
