CBI Inquiry Against Former TDP MLA In Illegal Mining Case

Update: 2019-12-25 05:06 GMT
In a new development, the illegal mining case of former TDP MLA Yarapathineni Srinivas was handed over to CBI by the AP government. The latest GO of the government confirms the same.

Yarapathineni is facing allegations of illegal mining since he was MLA of Gurjala constituency in Guntur District. Ex MLA TGV Krishna Reddy has moved the court in 2016 requesting action against Yarapathineni.

More cases of illegal mining were reported on him in 2018. The TDP government which was ruling then ordered for a CID inquiry. After completing its investigations, CID has submitted the report to the government.

With the proceedings of the petition in the High Court, the CBI probe came into limelight. Reportedly, the CID told the Court that the illegal mining cases need an extensive investigation.

The petitioner Krishna Reddy had sought a CBI probe in this regard. The Court said to investigate by CBI in this case, the government could take some steps. Court left the decision to the government only. So the government went for CBI investigation.

Yarapathineni Srinivas won the Gurjala for two consecutive times in 2019 and 2014. But he failed to emerge victoriously in 2019 elections.
