CBI Court Issues Summons To Minister Botsa

The CBI Court served summons to AP Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister Botsa Satyanarayana in connection with the Volkswagen Scandal which got exposed in 2005. Botsa was serving as the Industries Minister of Andhra Pradesh at that time. CBI Court directed the Minister to appear before it on September 12th.

5 years after the scam got exposed, CBI filed chargesheet related to the Rs 11.67 crore Volkswagen Scandal in 2010. The Investigation Agency alleges then AP Government headed by YS Rajasekhar Reddy paid Rs 11.67 crore to Vashishta Vahan Pvt Ltd in an unauthorised manner to establish Volkswagen Car Manufacturing Plant near Visakhapatnam.

Opposition Parties made a hue & cry over the Government Funding for establishment of the Volkswagen Plant in AP. They accused Botsa Satyanarayana and his Brother Murali Krishna of planning the scandal by misusing the power. Due to the negativity, Volkswagen had withdrawn it's decision to establish manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh.
