CBI on Tuesday raided the house of former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram. The home of Chidambaram is one among 14 places raided by the Investigation Agency.
The raids were conducted based on an FIR registered against Karti Chidambaram's role in Foreign Investment clearance. It's been alleged that Karthi Chidambaram's company received undue favors for Foreign Investment clearances offered to media house INX Media in 2008.
According to CBI, Karti Chidambaram's Firm received Rs 10 lakh in return from INX Media for granting Foreign Exchange Promotion Board (FEPB) Clearance of Rs 4 crore. In reality, INX Media received Rs 305 crores instead of Rs 4 crore.
It was Peter Mukherjea and his wife Indrani Mukherjea, who were involved in Sheena Bora murder case, used to own INX Media then. The couple quit INX Media in the year 2009.
