Center Allotted 496 Crores For Amaravati: Hardeep Singh Puri

The Central government has released 496 crores to Capital City Amaravati under the Smart Cities Mission, said Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri replying to the query of YSRCP MP, Vijaya Sai Reddy in Rajya Sabha.

He said the central government has granted Rs 496 crore for the capital city since 2017-18 and the state has spent Rs 472 under various development programs.

He gave complete details of the fund allocations to cities like Amaravati, Kakinada, Vishakapatnam, and Tirupati. The cities were granted 496 crores, 392 crores, 299 crores, and 196 crores respectively.

He also said that to facilitate the landing and takeoff for large aircrafts the Tirupati Runway will be expanded with 177 crores. This work will be completed by the end of 2021.

Hardeep Singh explained that the government of Andhra Pradesh has handed over almost 30.88 acres of land to the Airports Authority of India(AAI) for the runway expansion works and the works there are going in a slow pace with the delay of in the removal of high-tension power lines.
