Yet Again, Centre Denies Special Status For AP!

Update: 2018-12-19 16:02 GMT
No matter how many times the demand of Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh has been raised, Union Government continues to deny justice that's been promised in the floor of the house by then PM Manmohan Singh. When TDP MP K Ravindra Kumar raised the issue, Centre reiterated that Special Package was offered to AP as per the recommendations of 14th Finance Commission. It's been maintained that provisions of 14th Finance Commission doesn't permit sanction of Special Category Status for any state.

While YSR Congress MPs protested inside & outside of Parliament, TDP MPs limited their protest to outside the House. The House was adjourned till Thursday following the protests over the Rafale Deal.

For reasons best known to Narendra Modi, Central Government wasn't in favour of Special Category Status for AP right from the beginning. NaMo promised to offer necessary assistance to AP during poll campaigning in 2014 but he had refrained from using Special Status in any of his speeches. That's a clear lack of commitment from the BJP Leadership. Those BJP Leaders who made a hue & cry over 5 years Special Status and promised its implementation for 10 Years if NDA forms the Government has gone silent. This situation wouldn't have come had if TDP Government refused the Special Package offered by the Centre in 2016.
