Gadkari's Key Move on Polavaram Project

Update: 2018-01-30 13:25 GMT
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari took the initiative to get Polavaram on the right track after TDP MP Rayapati Family-owned Transstroy, which bagged the project contract, failed to live up to the expectations.

Gadkari had a two hour long meeting with Irrigation Department Officials on Tuesday. Following which, He met the contractors to finalize whom among them should be allotted the works.

The Minister decided to offer the contract of Polavaram Spillway Concrete and Spillway Channel to Navayuga Company. He even convinced Navayuga to complete the works by 2019 for old prices. Upon completion of the formalities, Navayuga will kickstart the main work of Polavaram Project.

Nitin Gadkari should be credited for cracking a tough deal. Who would have expected this to happen when the original Contractor Transstroy declared works can't be completed without budget escalation? Looks like, Centre is committed to complete the National Project.
