The Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued the revised guidelines on the Coronavirus for the States and Union Territories barring the containment zones.

According to the new Standard operating procedure(SOP), the theatres can increase the seating capacity from the existing capacity of 50 percent. The new guidelines will come into effect from  February 1.

No restriction was imposed on inter-state and intra-state movement and there is no requirement to seek special approval or pass for the inter-state movement, the guidelines said.

Though the theatres were permitted to increase the theater capacity, the Union Home Ministery said that the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting will issue a revised SOP in this regard.

On the other hand, the Department of Commerce will take a call on permitting the exhibition halls and issue an SOP  after consulting the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The union government has advised the people above the age group of 65 years, pregnant women, children below the age of 10 years, and persons with co-morbidities to take all the necessary precautions.
