Centre categorically rules out Vizag Railway Zone!

Update: 2021-12-08 12:14 GMT
Having a Railway Zone for shore city Vizag is a long demand. The need to have it had increased after the state bifurcation as the state was divided without a proper capital. Since 2014, the people of Andhra Pradesh have been waiting to hear about the Railway Zone

But the Union government led by Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) seems to have no interest in having a look into the matter. Over the years, the Centre did not make any quality work. For one more time, the Union government categorically ruled out the Vizag Railway Zone proposal.

As a response to a question asked by a Lok Sabha member on a possible new Railway Zone, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the Centre has no plans to bring another Railway Zone. He said, there are 17 Railway Zones in the country already and said the Centre has no mood to set up a new zone as the demands raised by the states.

The Railway Minister said that the Centre is receiving requests from the states to set up new railway zones and made it clear that there are no plans in bringing another Railway Zone. As a big surprise to the people of Andhra Pradesh, the Minister did not mention Vizag Railway Zone in his speech.
