Union Government on Thursday released Rs 1,976 crore to address the cash crunch Andhra Pradesh Government has been facing after bifurcation. While Rs 1,176 crore was granted to compensate the revenue deficit, Backward Districts were sanctioned Rs 350 crore and another Rs 450 crore was paid towards expenditure incurring during the construction of AP Capital Amaravati.
Since few days, Centre is working on the ways to compensate the denial of Special Category Status to AP. It came to a decision to announce Special Package that would please the people of Andhra & Rayalseema regions.
The amount sanctioned Today is a part of this measure. It will certainly give some hope for the people on central assistance AP would receive in the next three years. Centre might make an official announcement on the kind of financial support it offers within two months.
