Centre sanctions only Rs 5,000 Crore to AP

Union Government continues to release nominal funds to Andhra Pradesh inspite of the revenue deficit. Regarding the outstanding arrears of Rs 13,776 Crore for the fiscal year 2014-15, Centre made it clear it can't grant more than Rs 5,000 crore.

For the Financial Year 2014-15, Revenue Deficit stood at Rs 16,079 crore and out of that Rs 2,303 crore has been sanctioned so far. When AP Govt. sought the release of the balance amount, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley told only Rs 5,000 crore will be released and that too in multiple phases. In addition, There will be no sanction of funds to the new schemes introduced by TDP Government.

Centre granted only Rs 1,500 crore for AP Capital construction. While Rs 1,000 crore was for setting up infrastructure, Rs 500 crore was sanctioned towards construction of Assembly, High Court and Raj Bhavan.

Narendra Modi didn't bother to either accord Special Category Status to AP or announce Special Package.
