Renowned Economic Analyst Ruchir Sharma predicted chances of Narendra Modi to get re-elected in the 2019 Elections is just 50 percent. A year ago, It was 99 percent and that's a clear sign of drastic decline in Modi graph.
BJP emerged victorious with 31 percent vote share in 2014 Lok Sabha Polls. Ruchir Sharma, however, firmly believes the result in 2019 isn't going to be in favour of the Saffron Party if Opposition Parties get united. 'If I was betting, I would have said chances of Modi getting re-elected were 99 to 1 last year. That was the case after BJP wave in UP Assembly Polls. But now, It's just a 50:50 election and a lot depends on alliances. Opposition looked fragmented in 2014. Now, They are coming together,' he said.
Ruchir Sharma's new book 'Democracy On Road' would offer insights on how democracy works from election point of view. He is of the opinion that gap between popularity of Vajpayee and Opposition in 2004 is similar to what it is between Modi & the Opposition Today. In 2004, The Opposition has come together. That might happen again in 2019.
Mr.Sharma predicts BSP & SP alliance in Uttar Pradesh will help them sweep all the 80 Lok Sabha Seats in the state. He also makes it clear BJP will win majority of the seats if there is no tie-up between the two opposition parties.
