Starting from May 11, Chandrababu Naidu has again begun a three-day tour of his home turf Kuppam. This is his third visit to the constituency after the Kuppam Municipality passed into the hands of YSRCP. On Wednesday, he covered Shantipuram, Gudipalle ad Boyanapalli areas. Tomorrow, he is likely to attend a programme in Seegalapalli and on Friday, he is likely to hold a meeting of the party workers in Kuppam.
However, despite the tour of Chandrababu, there seems to be no enthusiasm among the party workers in Kuppam. The local leaders want Chandrababu Naidu to rectify some errors that have crept into the party over a period of time. There are also allegations that the TDP has failed to capitalise on the failures of the YSRCP government.
Interestingly, the TDP has failed to provide leadership to the farmers' protest at the power substations. In fact, this should have been led by the TDP leaders. But, the farmers themselves began protesting in the absence of any leadership from the TDP. Similarly, there is a lot of discontent in the TDP cadre that the party leadership is unable to respond quickly when the TDP leaders are attacked by the YSRCP.
Recently, the TDP workers were attacked in Ramakuppam mandal. The party leadership did nothing to protest. A mere sit-in in front of the police station was staged and after that the leaders fell silent. The TDP cadres want Chandrababu to address these issues first. But will Chandrababu address these critical issues or will he simply address a couple of meetings and then go back? Let's wait and see.
