The ruling YSRCP has continued its winning spree in the local body polls in Andhra Pradesh. Even in the second phase of the panchayat polls, the party has won over 82 per cent of the seats and has left the Opposition TDP way too behind. The TDP has lost several of its formidable citadels and several MLAs and former ministers have failed to win their home villages.
Yet, the opposition TDP has claimed that it has won as much as 38 per cent of the seats. Interestingly, this is being tomtommed by a section of the media, which has always been pro-TDP and pro-Chandrababu. They are trying to invent a contorted mathematical equation to claim 38 per cent victory. They are excluding the panchayats where the election was unanimous. Most of these unanimous panchayats were won by the YSRCP. By excluding them from the calculation, the TDP is trying to show that it has a higher success percentage.
Minister Kurasala Kannababu has openly challenged Chandrababu Naidu to prove that that his party had actually won 38 per cent seats. He said the TDP has put up a dismal performance in the elections, yet it was using its media propaganda machinery to peddle fake narrative. He challenged Chandrababu to release the names of TDP's winning sarpanch candidates.
