Naidu's Delhi Deeksha - A Costly Affair?

National Media highlighted the expenditure of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu's deeksha in New Delhi against the Union Government on Monday.

As per the media reports, As much as Rs 1.12 crore were spent for the two trains booked by TDP for making the deeksha a big success. Luxury Hotels were booked for the accommodation of Ministers, MLAs, MPs, MLCs, Senior Leaders and Workers. Anywhere around Rs 60 lakh were spent for it. Allotment of rooms depends on the range of the individual.

26 Ministers, 127 MLAs, 41 MLCs, 15 Corporation Chairmans, 150 General Body Members and 2,000 Party Supporters reached Delhi for the deeksha. Overall count could be anywhere close to 2,500-mark. For Ministers, 13 Rooms were booked in Royal Plaza. 83 Rooms were allotted for 127 MLAs in Hotel Surya. 28 Rooms have been given for MLCs and Corporation Chairmans at YMCA. 75 Rooms were booked for General Body Members in Hotel Sadharan. 1000 Rooms have been provided for 2,000 party supporters in Oyo Paharganz. In addition, Accommodation was provided for 150 people in Kurzan Hotel. Total expenditure is about Rs 58,53,837. 20 Rooms in AP Bhavan and 10 Rooms in Kerala Bhavan were booked in advance. Though it's a day-long deeksha, Many rooms were booked for 2-3 days.

During his AP Tour on Sunday, PM Narendra Modi slammed CM Chandrababu Naidu for wasting Tax Payers money on deeksha. Still, TDP Government continues to follow the same model for political mileage ahead of the elections.
