Pic Of The Day: Naidu launches Xiaomi's Redmi 2 Prime!

The launch of 'Redmi 2 Prime' which is Xiaomi's first India manufactured phone happened in Visakhapatnam on Monday. It was AP Chief Minister Chandrababu who unveiled the new phone priced at Rs 6,999 and will go on sale across online platforms from Today itself.

The Xiaomi manufacturing unit in Sri City is only the second such facility set up by the company outside China. First unit of Xiaomi outside China was in Brazil. 'Redmi 2 Prime' phones were assembled in Sri City and work of few other devices of the company will start soon.

On this occasion, Chandrababu Naidu said India have a huge potential and its 10 million tech graduates will come in handy to tranform the country into a hardware manufacturing hub.

Xiaomi vice president Hugo Barra says India is a key market for Xiaomi and 3 million devices were sold by the company since it began its operations in India. He hinted Xiaomi have plans to bring more new devices into the market in the next few weeks.
