Chandrababu to contest Lok Sabha polls in 2014

Update: 2014-01-02 16:32 GMT
TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu is likelt to contest the Lok Sabha polls this time as he wishes to play a kingmaker role in the National politics. This is the latest move of Hi-Tech Babu in case Assembly elections gets delayed because of the Telangana issue. TDP leadership is expecting the collapse of Congress government on January 23rd as most of the ruling party MLAs will be quitting. Hence, a President's Rule will be imposed and this move will delay the Assembly polls. As per rules, Lok Sabha polls could be held even during the President's Rule.

Chandrababu, however, couldn't contest for the Lok Sabha from his home district as both the seats in Chitoor were reserved for Scheduled Castes. At present, Naidu is keen on contesting either from Hindupur in Rayalseema or Malkajgiri in Telangana regions. Hindupur is the most safest seat for TDP and the past elections have proven this fact. Malkajgiri, on the other hand, have got the presence of 5 lakh Seemandhra voters.

It is learnt that several party leaders were opposing Chandrababu's move to shift to Lok Sabha as it would send a wrong signal to the people and several seniors including Nandamuri family members could claim for the chief minister's post.
