A strong buzz is in the TDP circles over whether Chandrababu Naidu would contest in the 2024 elections. A strong section of the TDP insiders are saying that Chandrababu may not contest the 2024 elections , but would focus all his energies on a year-long campaign to unseat the YSRCP.
In fact, sources say that Chandrababu wanted to undertake a padayatra in 2018 ahead of 2019 elections, But health issues reportedly prevented him from undertaking the yatra. But, sources say Chandrababu has decided to undertake a padayatra in 2023. Sources close to TDP claim that "one last opportunity" is ging to be Chandrababu's strategy this time. Chandrababu wants to ride the wave of sympathy and win the elections.
Sources say even Lokesh Babu is likely to undertake another yatra, preferably on a bicycle as this is his party's symbol. These two yatras will be in different directions and the father-son duo will crisscross the whole state to campaign against the YSRCP government. Sources say Chandrababu Naidu may not contest the elections, but would fully focus on the campaign only. Sources also say that Lokesh would be asked to contest from Kuppam, which is Nara family's borough.
Sources say that Kuppam would be a safe seat for Nara Lokesh where he can consolidate the pro-TDP votes. The constituency has been a family fiefdom since 1985 and Lokesh's victory would be quite easy, according to TDP insiders. So, Chandrababu might opt out from the contest and make way for Chandrabbu Naidu.
