Once he used all investigative agencies available to torment his political rivals. Today, he is facing heat from the same organisations. Now the stage is set for the arrest of former union minister P Chidambaram. After his bail plea in Delhi high court got rejected, Chiddu may soon be arrested and be sent to Tihar jail. Already, his son Karthi Chidambram is facing CBI and ED cases and he is doing rounds of various courts. Now, even Chidambara could face the same problem.
The CBI and ED have registered a case of embezzlement and laundering over foreign investments to a tune of Rs 300 crore into INX media. The probe is on for over two years and the CBI and ED have filed a chargesheet. Since then Chidu has been evading arrest by securing anticipatory bail. Now, the court has said that there is no need for an anticipatory bail for Chidambaram.
The Congress party is naturally worried. It has deployed its best advocate Kapil Sibal to defend Chidambaram. Sibal said the high court's decision was hasty. He questioned the haste in which the judge, who was retire in two days, gave the verdict. But, as of now, rhetoric apart, there seems to be literally no option for Chidu than to surrender.
