Chidambaram Moves Supreme Court Seeking Bail In The INX Media Case

Senior Congress leader and former finance minister Chidambaram, who is in custody since his arrest by CBI in the INX Media case, moved to Supreme Court seeking bail in the case. The Supreme Court bench said P Chidamabaram's plea will be sent to CJI Ranjan Gogoi for taking a call on the listing of the matter.

 At the hearing at Delhi court, CBI informed the bench that a bail plea has been moved in the Supreme Court by the Chidambaram's Counsel. A separate application has moved by Chidambaram's counsel demanding to be allowed the home-cooked food to Chidambaram and a report on the medical office from Tihar has also been filed for the court seeking permission to allow home-cooked food.

Chidambaram, who is in custody since his arrest by CBI on August 21, dis not to approach the trial court and applied for bail in the regular court. He was arrested in his Jor Bagh residence by CBI on August 21, Is in Tihar jail under judicial custody till October 17.

The CBI has registered an FIR on May 15, 2017, alleging irregularities in the FIPB clearance granted to the INX Media groups / grouped for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during Chidambaram's tenure as finance ministers.
