Opposition To Impeach Chief Justice Of India!

Indian judiciary is going to witness sensational developments as per the reports in the national media.   Opposition parties are in preparations to move an impeachment motion against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra in the Parliament.  Congress and NCP are collecting signatures for the motion at present.  NCP leader Majid Memon revealed that 20 MPs have already signed on the impeachment motion.  Senior leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, Kapil Sibal, Ahmed Patel among the 20 leaders who signed the petition.  Five MPs from NCP also signed on the motion.   In their petition, MPs are alleging that senior justices are ignored in the allotment of cases and only some justices were given importance.

NCP leader DP Tripathi told that media that he has also signed the impeachment petition. He revealed that they are still collecting the signatures for the motion.  He said that CPM, CPI MPs are also ready to sign the petition.  Tripathi reminded that four senior chief justices of Supreme Court already raised their concerns regarding the developments in the judiciary in the past that it will pose a threat to the judiciary system.  He also reminded that Dipak Misra is facing corruption charges as well.

To introduce impeachment motion against the CJI, 100 signatures required in Lok Sabha, 50 signatures required in Rajya Sabha.  Other opposition party leaders have met Leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and discussed the issue with him.  Trinamool Congress, NCP, CPM leaders are already discussing on the same issue for the past several days. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee reportedly discussed the same with senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan.  The main opposition Congress party is yet to respond to this issue.  On the other hand, Samajwadi Party clarified that they are supporting impeachment motion.
