Chief Justice NV Ramana interacts with CJs virtually over judicial functioning in pandemic period

The serving Chief Justice of India(CJI) NV Ramana interacted with the Chief Justices of the High Courts. The interaction was held virtually in the wake of Coronavirus creating havoc.

During the interaction, the honorable Chief Justice took stock of the functioning of the courts. There was a need to ramp up the process to fill the vacant posts across the courts, he said.

Media reports claimed that the CJI had pitched up the idea of setting up the National Judicial Infrastructure Corporation to construct modern courts, equipped with video conferencing facilities.

The CJI stressed the need of filling up the vacancies across the courts in the country. He had earlier written to the Chief Justices of the respective High Courts in this regard.

A few CJs during the virtual interaction told the CJI that the digital divide has an impact on the way the judiciary system functions. The rural and tribal areas are facing the impact in particular.

Justice NV Ramana took the opportunity to condole the demise of Judges, Lawyers, officers, and staffers, who breathed their last due to the pandemic effect across the country at various courts.
