A 29-Day-Old Baby Died Of COVID In The Philippines

In what it could be a shocker, a 29-day-old baby succumbed to the dreaded COVID-19 virus in Philippine which makes the newborn kid as the youngest victim to lost life to the fatal virus.

"The youngest fatality for Covid-19 is a 29-day-old from Batangas. He died because of late onset sepsis due to severe respiratory infection," Philippine's health chief Maria Rosario Vergeire said.

"Unfortunately her pregnancy, which she was carrying, she went into pre-term labour and ultimately delivered the baby prematurely, and in doing so, the baby, because of the extreme prematurity, did not survive," Rosario added.

The kid who was infected with the virus had difficulties in breathing which forced the doctors to give emergency treatment for him which could not help the newborn baby boy.

In the past 24 hours, 230 COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the Philippines claiming 14 deaths taking the toll of the deaths in the country to 349. The count of the positive cases reached 5,453 while 353 people recovered from the virus.
