Update: 2013-08-01 11:41 GMT
Andhra Pradesh Minister for Infrastructure and Investments Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Thursday submitted his resignation to chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on grounds that the bifurcation wasn't acceptable to the people who elected him. He represents Anakapalle constituency in Visakhapatnam and contested on PRP ticket in 2009 polls.

In his resignation letter to CM, Ganta mentioned that his conscience isn't permitting him to continue in the present cabinet after the centre announced its decision to divide the state. He said the new developments were very painful to a person like him who is an ardent supporter of United Andhra Pradesh. "I hereby tender my resignation from the Cabinet Ministership. I sincerely thank you and the Congress High Command for the opportunity given to me to be a Minister in your Cabinet. I request that my resignation be accepted," wrote Ganta to CM Kiran.

As many as 15 Seemandhra ministers might follow the same path by 7 pm on Thursday. Several MLAs and other people's representatives are ready to resign respecting the sentiments and wishes of their region.
