Update: 2021-10-02 05:40 GMT
Veteran Jamaican player Chris Gayle is currently representing the Punjab Kings franchise in the Indian Premier League(IPL) and has played two games in the remainder of the tournament. But the Punjab fans faced a big shock with the entertaining player announcing the news of leaving the tournament mid-way.

The Universe Boss Chris Gayle will not play the remaining matches in the tournament on the grounds of the bio-bubble breach. The Punjab franchise had issued a statement saying that he will not be part of the other matches in the ongoing tournament.

In the statement, the Punjab Kings said that Chris Gayle had been involved in the bio-bubble breach earlier too. He played series against Sri Lanka, Australia, and the 2021 Caribbean Premier League. He was involved in the bio-bubble in that tournament too.

The franchise also said that the West Indies player had opted to leave the IPL in the wake of the upcoming T 20 World Cup. With this, Chris Gayle can be fresh and get energized for the short format tournament.

"Chris Gayle too has taken this decision keeping in mind the T20 World Cup which begins on 17th October. The 42-year-old has opted to prioritize his mental health and take a bit of a breather from bubble environments so as to stay fresh and energized in what could be his last T20 World Cup as a player for West Indies," the IPL team said in the statement.

Looking at the circumstances, Chris Gayle might not be seen in the tournament from the next season as the mega auction will commence next year. Taking his age into consideration, the chances for the IPL teams showing interest in the batsman are very thin.
