Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on May 21st in the year 1991 at Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. 5 Years before the death of former Prime Minister, US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has prepared a detailed report on what's going to happen if Rajiv was killed or if he quits politics.
The 23-Page Report was titled as 'India After Rajivâ¦' was prepared in March 1986. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has declassified this report recently.
In the report, It's been mentioned that Rajiv Gandhi had life threat and his assassination might happen before the completion of his term in 1989.
CIA felt there could be massive communal violence if Rajiv Gandhi was killed by Sikhs or Kashmiri Muslims. It was also mentioned that either PV Narasimha Rao or VP Singh could be the interim successor post Rajiv Gandhi's sudden exit.
