Update: 2018-10-12 06:59 GMT
Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand breathed his last after 110 days of fasting for the protection of River Ganga. AIIMS Doctors informed he died of heart failure.

On June 22nd this year, The 86-Year-Old launched his indefinite fast by consuming just Lemon Juice. He was shifted from the fasting venue at Matri Sadan to AIIMS Rishikesh after his health deteriorated. Even the last attempts of former CM and Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal too end his fast didn't yield results. The Professor-turned-Ascetic had refused even water.

Swaroop Sanand served as the Professor of Environmental Engineering Department in Kanpur IIT. He was also Secretary of Central Pollution Control Board. Mr.Sanand became a Sanyas six-years-ago and turned crusader for the cause of Ganga. Even Anna Hazare expressed solidarity to the Swami who fought for a good cause.

What about PM Narendra Modi who made tall claims about Ganga during the 2014 General Elections? What has NDA Government done to protect Ganga since then? Centre is answerable to the people of the country.
