Chattisgarh Chief Minister Lands in trouble after his son-in-law Puneet Gupta was caught in alleged phone tape scandal showing him to be offering a bribe to Congress candidate.
An audio tape containing telephonic talks purportedly between Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh's sons-in-law was revealed and the tapes hints about his involvement in "fixing" the bypoll to an assembly seat last year.
The report says that in a by-election in Anantnag constituency, Puneet gave an offer to the Congress candidate. The man in question who Puneet spoke was former Congress CM Ajit Jogi's son Amit Jogi. The reports suggest financial inducements could have been offered to make him withdraw from the fray.
Raman Singh though has brushed it off as a conspiracy by Congress to frame his family.
Meanwhile the main opposition party demanded CM Raman Singh's sacking and a Supreme Court- monitored SIT probe into the matter, while BJP rejected the allegations.
